Capture Higher Ed is proud to introduce one of our newest partners, Illinois Wesleyan University.
Located on an 85-acre campus just blocks from downtown Bloomington, Ill., which the American Institute of Economic Research ranked No. 10 in its 2017 list of “Best College Towns,” the university was founded in 1850 by a group of 30 civic and religious leaders who wanted to establish “an Institution of Learning of Collegiate grade,” according to historic documents.
Over its almost 170 years, the independent, residential, liberal arts university has grown and evolved into a top-tier American university, according to several magazines and college guidebooks.
While the liberal arts and sciences have been at the foundation of Illinois Wesleyan’s curriculum since its inception, the university also helps students follow a wide range of career paths, offering a diverse education in a variety of subjects and professional programs as well as opportunities for interdisciplinary study and off-campus learning.
With an enrollment of 1,771, the university offers more than 80 majors, minors and programs with professional programs in Music, Art, Theatre, Nursing and Business. The university boasts a student-to-faculty ratio of 10 to 1 and a first-year student retention rate of 92 percent.
The school has an active extracurricular scene, with more than 200 student organizations as well as 22 NCAA Division-II men’s and women’s varsity sports teams. The Titans compete in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Illinois Wesleyan also offers more than 300 study abroad programs with one in two of its students studying overseas at some point during their college career.
The university’s mission states: “A liberal education at Illinois Wesleyan fosters creativity, critical thinking, effective communication, strength of character and a spirit of inquiry. Our curriculum deepens the specialized knowledge of a discipline with a comprehensive worldview. The Illinois Wesleyan experience affords the greatest possibilities for realizing individual potential while preparing students for democratic citizenship and life in a global society.”
We are proud to welcome Illinois Wesleyan University to the Capture family.
